Hall is getting paid!! I think Al Davis has officially lost it! Not that D. Hall is not a great CB but damn that a whole lot of money in the secondary! See below for details

Atlanta Falcons cornerback DeAngelo Hall says he will finalize a contract with Oakland by Thursday morning, allowing the trade sending him to the Raiders to be completed.
Frustrated by his team's lack of success, Raiders owner Al Davis has spent a lot of money this offseason. And he's not done yet, writes John Clayton.
A source told ESPN's Chris Mortensen that the deal is for seven years and worth $70 million. The amount of guaranteed money and bonuses in the contract have not been finalized.
The source also told Mortensen the teams are discussing possibly more compensation than just a second-round pick for the Raiders to acquire Hall, a two-time All-Pro.
If the deal goes through as planned, the Falcons will have three second-round draft picks and four of the first 48 selections under first-year general manager Thomas Dimitroff.
Hall said he is scheduled to fly to Oakland on Wednesday to meet with Raiders officials, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "There is just some tweaking of the language that needs to be done, some minor details," Hall told the newspaper. "No deal breakers."
Hall, a former first-rounder taken with the eighth pick in the 2004 draft, would be paired with Nnamdi Asomugha, giving Oakland one of the top cornerback tandems in the game.
The move would also provide insurance if Asomugha were to leave as a free agent following next season. The Raiders placed the exclusive franchise tag on Asomugha, guaranteeing him at least $9.465 million in 2008. They still would like to sign him to a long-term deal.
If the deal goes through, the Raiders would have only one draft pick in the first three rounds. Oakland picks fourth in the opening round and traded its third-round pick last year to New England for a pick used to draft offensive lineman Mario Henderson.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://antonious-sportstalk.blogspot.com/2008/03/d-hall-gets-paid.html' title='D. They beat the Hawks tonight for there 20th game in a row! The Rockets' improbable winning streak now ranks tied for the second-longest in NBA history, trailing only the 1971-72 Lakers' 33 straight for the all-time record. I hear sports writers on T.V. and fans say "well there schedule is favorable the last couple of weeks". I don't care how easy it has been, 20 games in a row is hard as hell and they won 8 of them without there starting center, Yao Ming!! After a injury plagued year Morris came in for Alexander and played very well, leaving the Seahawks wondering why they gave Alexander that big ass contract from the get go!

D-Mac loves the Cowboys!!

Marion Barber and Darren McFadden in the backfield together?
What a dream scenerio for us Cowboy Fans! I knew last year when his sack totals were down and the huge cap number he has that it might be tough for the Panthers to keep him this upcoming season. Now it looks like he might be on the trading block. But do teams still have money? See the article below for http://www.profootballtalk.com/

We've received several e-mails over the past couple of days regarding rumors that the Carolina Panthers are poised to trade defensive end Julius Peppers.
And so we've actually engaged in a little "real" journalism -- and in some of our good, old-fashioned rumor mongering.
There are rumors in league circles that the Panthers are quietly shopping Peppers. He has a big cap number in 2007, and there's a school of thought that the Panthers aren't willing to pay him what it would take to keep him over the long haul, especially since the price tag could go up if/when the Ravens sign Terrell Suggs to a long-term deal.
But it takes two to do the trade tango, and we've yet to confirm that any of the other 31 teams have been approached about acquiring the No. 2 overall pick in the 2002 draft.
Peppers had only 2.5 sacks last season, down from 13.0 the year before. He had been expected to be in line for a Dwight Freeney-style deal with $30 million guaranteed and a $12 million per year average.
Agent Carl Carey tells PFT that he and Peppers have heard the rumors, but that they have no merit.
"We fully expect that Julius Peppers will be a Carolina Panther this football season," Carey said.
At this point, there's no concrete reason to believe otherwise. But unless and until Peppers signs a new contract with the Panthers, the trade whispers will continue.

The experts from SI.com way in on NFL Free Agency so far.

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5175094458949096866" style="FLOAT: left; A former first-round draft pick in 2001, Morgan's 59 starts were the most for a linebacker in team history and his 452 tackles rank third in Carolina history. He was selected to the NFC Pro Bowl team as a starter following the 2004 season when he recorded a career best 109 tackles. Brett Farve is retiring from the NFL after 17 years in the league. I'm sad to see him leave as a fan of the NFL, but happy to see him go has a fan of the Cowboys! The Packers were going to be a thorn in our side for years to come with Farve being rejuventated last year. Brett has had a wonderful career with all the major QB records being broke last year by him. Even if you are not a Packers fan you should appreciate the class and youthful exuberance Farve bought to the game.

Oakland Raiders made Tommy Kelly the highest paid DT?!!!

Yes I'm back with my top story for free agency or should I say the story that will get the most laughs in Blog circles!! Today the Oakland Raiders made Tommy Kelly the highest paid DT in history..............yes you are right "who in the hell is Tommy Kelly"!!! I said the same thing.

Oakland is in the postion they are now because of stupid deals like this! I'm not even going to finish typing this story see the story below from profootballtalk.com

Story from profootballtalk.com below

Reaction in league circles to the $50 million contract paid to defensive tackle Tommy Kelly, which included $18 million in guaranteed money, generally has been bewilderment and laughter.
Kelly has 13 sacks. In his entire career. And he played in only seven games in 2007.

He joined the Raiders in 2004 as an undrafted free agent.

Super Bowl upset!!!

What a game! Has a die hard Cowboys fan, I cheered on our enemies "New York Giants" for one day and one day only. First of all let me give my reasons, then I will get to the game. I was so sick and tired of these ESPN, Fox, CBS, etc... anaylst saying that the PATS was the greatest team of all time! Then they started to say they could be put in the same group with my Dallas Cowboys of the 90's, 49ers of the 80's, Steelers of the 70's; myself and all the rest of the Cowboys fans were up in arms. So I cheered for our NFC East rivals.......the Giants! I have to admit, the Giants have a front four that is unreal, they harassed and beat up Brady the whole game! Not only were they getting to him, when WR's and RB's made the catch, the Giants LB's were hitting them hard! They did the same thing to Tampa, Dallas, and Green Bay! That's why I'm a firm believer in getting pressure with your front four if you are playing a 4-3 DEF. They were able to drop people to help out with Moss and Stallworth. They let Welker get his and punished him when he caught it! I have to admit Eli played with heart, the Giants WR's came up big when it counted. Once again I will say this with pleasure, the NFC East is the SEC of college football! Battle tested! enough said! The Giants play the Cowboys (1 seed) twice a year, Eagles (Superbowl 3 years ago), Redskins (Playoff team the last past 2 years) and they beat up on each other all year being ready for anything when the playoffs get started. The PATS on ther other hand play people like........the Dolphins twice a year, the Bills, Jets.........please! Take that Billicheat!! Now that it's over...........New York be prepared to hand over the hardware next year to my Dallas Cowboys!

Congrats Giants!

Giants beat Cowboys and Packers on there way to Super Bowl!

I know I'm writing this late but I'm still getting over this shocker! You damn right they did! The SEC is the most powerful conference in college football.......period!! The score doesn't reflect the dominance of LSU over OSU. The Tigers where just to quick on DEF for the Buckeyes plus the Buckeyes could not stop the Tigers from running the ball. Once again my theory proves to be true. The SEC has battle tested teams that play hard against better competition all year and the rest of the conferences do not and when the end of the year comes SEC teams take out there frustrations on inferior teams........"OSU, Hawaii, Colorado, Florida State, Clemson, Wisconsin, UCF".......7-2 in bowl games this season!!!!

SEC the best conference in the College Football?!

I'm a little bias on this subject here because I'm from the south. For years I have been saying the SEC is the best conference in the nation. Well the last couple of years they have been proving me right! Did anyone see that beating Hawaii took from Georgia! The Michigan/Florida game was great and Tenn beat Wisconsin. Arkansas lost to Mizzo but overall the SEC once again will dominate the bowl games this year. I think LSU will take it to OSU like Florida did last year. Teams in the SEC is stacked! During the regular season they beat up on each other all year and when Bowl time comes they are well battle tested. Every week if you are the number 1 team in the nation and you play in the SEC you could loose! Teams are just that good! For years and years people have over looked the boys from down south but now people are taking notice! Not the ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, MAC, PAC-10, WAC, etc......can compare!

Wild-Card Weekend!

It looks like the playoffs are set and wild card weekend is next week! Never will I consider the cheating PATS the best team ever! Everyone on EPSN and all over other sports networks have crowned them the best ever. I'm so sick of this, every time I hear someone call there names on T.V. I changed the channel. I'm not the only who feels like this, there is a lot of people who can't stand Billacheat and his boys. The PATS should've lost four games this year; Colts, Eagles, Ravens, and the Giants!
Now I do give credit where credit is due, they are a potent offensive but they get to much credit! The steelers of the 70's, the 49ers of the 80's and the Cowboys of the 90's had really good DEF. The PATS are getting lucky bounces and the zebras has won at least two of the games for them! Yes Brady broke the TD passing record and yes Moss did break the WR records but for god sake they threw the ball 85% of the time!! Bottom line is, I think they are cheaters and they rubbed it in the face of the NFL! I think it would make my season if they lost in the playoffs; besides the Cowboys winning the superbowl that's my new years sports resolution!

Bob Sanders just signed a new contract with the Colts

Bob Sanders want be going anywhere!! Check out the article below from ESPN Sources:

PER Chris Mortensen covers the NFL for ESPN.
Indianapolis Colts safety Bob Sanders has signed a five-year, $37.5 million contract with the Colts that includes $20 million in guaranteed money, according to NFL sources.
The contract makes Sanders, 26, the highest-paid safety in the NFL.
Sanders, whose playoff performance sparked the Colts on their run to a Super Bowl victory last season, would have been an unrestricted free agent after this season.

Sick and tired of ESPN slurping the Patroits!

For the first time, I have been kind of avoiding ESPN! Good luck Bill, this will be your biggest challenge yet.

Pro Bowl Snubs

Got some heated fans about this one.............Pro Bowl Snubs! Who deserve to get in and who deserve to be sitting back at home. Now I don't want anybody to hate because the Cowboys put in 11 pro bowlers! I think they deserve it except for a couple of them (R. Williams for one). Now I think Mario Williams and Marcus Colston should've been there; Jason Taylor made it? are you kidding me!! No Jaguars! No Bucs on DEF!!! Fred Taylor should've gone. Now I really think the fans should have less of a say and the coaches and GM's and players should have a biggers say who goes and who don't. That brings there total wins for this year to 20 and only 2 defeats. I remember last year these guys didn't get 20 wins until about 6 months into the season! That's what happens when you put Pierce, Garnett and Allen together better known as the PGA Tour in the NBA. Who deserves the real credit is Danny Ainge! Who would've thought he would've had the power to pull off trades like that in the offseason! There is your GM of the year and the season is not even over! JESSICA SIMPSON!!!! I was like "no not again" last year this time our star QB had Carrie Underwood in the luxury box and he put on a terrible performance against the same team! Damn it! it happen again! Now I give some credit to the Eagles DEF, but for god sake Tony was missing wide open guys and forcing balls to people. He says it had nothing to do with his performance, but come on guys think about it. If you had Beyonce in the luxury box at Texas Stadium and you knew she was looking wouldn't you try to press the issue and try to show out.................of course you would!!!! So chill on the chics Tony until after the season! I understand being the Cowboys QB gets you a lot of play also being a cowboys fan gets you some action (ok just kidding) but chill, we don't need any distractions we are trying to win our 6th superbowl!!

New Orleans continues to get better under the radar

The Saints are flying under the radar since every one wrote them off after a sub .500 season all year long. Don't look now but they are in contention for the last wild card spot in the NFC. They beat a sound Cardinals team yesterday and there DEF is playing better. They did all this without R. Bush; me for one being a Cowboys fan don't want to see them in the playoffs because of the potent pass attack they have. Well the number 1 pick from a year ago look good with 3.5 sacks and numerous QB pressures. My question is now "did the Houston Texans get it right with that pick"? Let me be the first to say I was one of the ones saying that the Texans were out of there minds for passing on R. Bush and V. Young! Who is laughing now; Bush I think has proven he is not a every down back and Vince is not a top-notch QB yet. I think Houston might have gotten it right, as time go on we will see but it looks like Mario is making his case this year he was deserving of that number 1 pick.

Cowboys Fans we might loose Jason Garrett

I'm getting nervous!!! every time I turn on ESPN, Inside the NFL, NFL Live etc....all the shows are talking about J. Paying attention to stats, storylines, playoffs etc.......Guys were all of sudden shattering 40 and 50 year old records in one season!! They got bigger, better and faster! Then that's were the steroid talk started, but I thought nothing of it because with this day and age of new Techonolgy and new work out regiments it's possible. Now the Mitchell Report comes out and bring the shadows to light! The players are getting paid some serious salaries which comes from revenue we the fans put in the owners/MLB's pockets. So you paid to see some straight up competition and I think we got the wool pulled over our eyes, it's all good though because I think some reputations are going to take some serious hits.
